Houston Metro Light Rail Transit - Maintenance Yard,
Houston, TX
As a subconsultant to the LS-1 Consultant Team, Brown & Gay Engineers, Inc. performed the final design for the civil and traffic elements of the project, from the Union Pacific Railroad tracks to south of Holly Hall, including major intersections on Fannin Street at IH 610 frontage roads, Naomi Street and West Bellfort Avenue.
Brown & Gay provided complete engineering and final design services for LS-1. Project involvement included civil design for the yard and shop facilities at the south end of the line section; design of the Fannin South Station and Park & Ride Lot with Bus Bays; design of modifications to the IH 610 west U-turn structure to accommodate LRT alignment/catenary connection; design of utility work; streets/paving; traffic signage; ductbank/conduits; esplanades, stations and amenities. The design work ran concurrently with early construction activity, and the design deliverables paced the advancement of construction. Construction plans were prepared for the traffic signal locations indicated above. The plans were prepared to METRO and City of Houston standards and requirements. The project included coordination with TxDOT for roadway and traffic elements at the IH 610 Frontage Roads and the replacement of TxDOT's CTMS installations at this location.
