Memorial City Mall Redevelopment, Houston, TX

Brown & Gay Engineers, Inc. provided engineering, surveying, and agency coordination for this $110 million renovation for Memorial City Mall. The 101-acre site increased the lease area by 600,000 square feet for a total of 1.9 million square feet, including the addition of three new anchor tenants. The renovation included coordination of public utility relocations and private utility relocations. This project was under design and construction for three years. Memorial City Mall was built in the 1960s, and no record drawings were available for existing private utilities. The relocation of the public and private utilities required close agency coordination with the City of Houston and electric and telephone utilities. Brown & Gay Engineers understood that it was important to keep the Mall open during the construction and to minimize the disruption, especially during peak shopping times.
