Brown & Gay Engineers, Inc. is a professional civil engineering and surveying firm that was created in 1975 by acquiring the assets and on-going projects of another Houston engineering firm. The firm, originally called Mercer-Brown Engineers, Inc., changed its name to Brown, Gay and Associates, Inc. in 1983 after the retirement of Harold Mercer, PE. The firm became Brown & Gay Engineers, Inc. in 1989. 

L.S. "Pat" Brown, PE, RPLS, Chairman; Richard Gay, PE, President; and Bill Schaumburg, Vice President, were with the predecessor firm before the purchase in 1975.

The firm remains a privately owned corporation led by a Board of Directors:

Lee Lennard, PE, Director - Public Works
